Europe’s job board for field service engineers

Certificates that get you hired

Certificates are often the first filter a recruiter applies. These are the ones that come up most in field service vacancies.

  • VCA (basic or VOL): the safety certificate most Dutch and Belgian sites require before you are allowed on site.
  • NEN 3140 / NEN 1010: needed for work on low-voltage installations in the Netherlands.
  • High-voltage authorisation: required for substation and transformer work, and usually trained by the employer.
  • Vendor training: Siemens, ABB, Rockwell or instrument-specific courses show you can work on that equipment from day one.

List every certificate with its expiry date on your CV. An expired VCA is one of the most common reasons a strong CV is passed over.
